I have a mercury engine that

I have a mercury engine that I was told the powerhead had been changed. I need to find a flywheel for this motor but I am not sure how to figure out what I need. The serial number that I found was on the motor and may not match the powerhead. I was told the powerhead was a 1981 200hp. The original was an 84 150hp. Is there any way to measure the flywheel or a number to look for on the flywheel.

The flywheel might be the same for those years, but doesn't have to be. It could be one of three slightly different flywheels. The difference has to do with the thickness of the stator laminations, the type of starter, and number of teeth on the starter drive gear.

How would be the best way to determine which one I have and where could I find a used one?

You could start by counting the teeth on the gear that goes around the flywheel if you have the old flywheel.
