"I have a 1986 4 horse Mercury

"I have a 1986 4 horse Mercury outboard I am trying to replace,a lead assembly wire and I can't get up under the flywheel, to pull the wire I want to remove the flywheel so I can reach the wire,and remove it. I tried to unloosen the nut I can't keep the wheel from moving, any tricks I can use?And anyone know the size wire I have to replace, the is nla,I want to make my owm Bud"
 
one would normally use a flywh

one would normally use a flywheel puller with hardened bolts to remove it. The crankshaft is tapered and keyed making it impossible to just loosen the nut and hope it comes off. If you smack it the flywheel magnets are likely to fly off.
