flushing 40xwtl

gday, just wanting to clear up a few questions i have. ive heard you should wait until the water exiting out of the outboard gets warm as this means it has passed through the cooling system in the powerhead after thermostat opens.

is this true with my particular engine? if so how long would it take on idle?

any searches i do about my model and the thermostat returns nothing so does this engine just pump water through the block all the time without a thermostat?

bought new 6 months ago but dont know date of manufacture.

also what is the go with the other exit point at the back of the outboard in the center?

just want to understand the engin better, thanks for any help

i know there is countless threads on the net about flushing outboards, but the thing that is doing my head in is that when having the engine fitted he told me that people dont realise they shouldnt flush for too long with muffs because the engine is not getting cooled as good as it would be when submerged in water. he said max 4 mins

what peoples thoughts on this?
