"I made mine fit--I'm a chapskate--by grinding the inner edge of the old AFB arrestor. Not a hard job if you have a pencil grinder.

Alternately, you could buy one from ebasicpower.com I believe.

the 1409 needs a flame arrestor with a 5 1/8" opening, just a bit more than most others (5.05"). I, too, subscribe to the "School of Jeff" and believe modification of working parts on hand is always preferred over new procurement.

The other dimension you need to take is the vertical clearance available. Make sure the air flow rate meets or exceeds your needs and you should be set."

Not necessary. That's to keep automotive dirt out.

a gaskett does inhibit the purpose....think about what would happen if there was a gasket and it was soaked with gasoline.

to strengthen Jeff's statement - NO gasket between carb and flame arrestor.
