First timer dumb question

I have a 110 Johnson... Motor been running good for a while.. All of a sudden the linkage going from the top and bottom carburator keeps popping off.. I looked at it and it looks like its hitting on the bottom butterfly clip and popping off .. I dont understand why it would be a problem all of a sudden... its not bent or anything.. I was going to bend the metal piece its hitting , but i didnt want to screw it up.

The straight portion of that rod goes to the top carburetor. Let us know a little more about the problem. I advise strongly against bending anything. Also.... what year is that 110hp engine ? (Joe - 30+ years with OMC) "

Thanks for the reply....the staight part is on the bottom.... ill check if it fits the other way aroung..lol thanks again..Its a rebuild 90's about..
