outboard is new to me, wanted to try my hands on a LU rebuild. Followed the service manual and took it apart. The bearing house got a lot of sand in it, what kind of cleaning solution should i use to clean that and the gears/shaft? it'll be a few weeks before i can put things back together, should i coat the parts with some oil to keep rust away? will be replacing the bearing house o-ring and oil seals.
