finding engine #'s

we (myself and the owner) are having issues with a 1993 90 hp merc sport jet. it looks like a 3 cyl outboard but the powerhead bolts to a right angle drive unit that is the jet assembly. neither of us have 20/20 eyesight but are far from blind or so we thought. where is the secret hiding spot for the engine id #'s? all we can find are short casting #'s on just about every part. tks in advance

It is not a " Mercury engine "-------------------It is a " Force outboard block " marketed by Mercury ( used to be Chrysler at one time )

Racer might you know where force hides there #'s? there is a faded little silver sticker with something about merc marine and Brunswick (canada maybe?). i do have a 1970 70hp chrysler, old, ugly, heavy, and thirsty, but very reliable
