Exhaust Leak from Intake Manifold 440 Marine engine

"Have twin 440's in boat.

"Have twin 440's in boat. The port engine has an exhaust leak on the port side of the intake manifold, just next to the carb. It ticks pretty loud when running. From the little research I have done so far it seems that this is the source of heat for the choke. If this is so, how do I fix it? Is it just intake manifold gasket that needs to be replaced? Does the valley pan need to be replaced? The engines are freshwater cooled. can I just use truck gaskets?

"Not sure about 440s, but they might use those little metal plates that clamp to the gasket in that area. (The small blocks Mopars use them.) Some lazy or ?? mechanics leave the plates out, and this ALWAYS causes an exhaust leak in that area.

I had my 440s rebuilt in 2002.

I had my 440s rebuilt in 2002. Both intake manifolds had rusted through from rain-water that sat on top of the engines while the boat was on dry-dock for 5 years. But it may just be a gasket.
