"I have a 93 5.7L Mercruiser that was recently out of the water for repairs, and upon return the exhaust note was coarse (like a leaky muffler on a car). The mechanic took a look and said there is a hole in the bellows. He said the the bellows was not really necessary, and that replacement could wait until the boat had to be hauled out at a later date. There is no water leaking into the boat, and no oil leaking out with the exhaust. Is there a risk in running the boat like this (corrosion, sinking, hydrolock, etc)? The boat is in brackish water, stored on a lift.
