i have a 1955 evinrude motor that im fixing up 15hpi need to know what the settings are for the coils,plus on the shift lever,i was wondering what goes behind the lever if there is a pin or something missingthere is a plate back behind the lever with 2 holes in it but there is nothing on it to go into the holes any info would very helpful

The coils can not be just bolted in place.-------------You have to adjust them so that they do not hit the flywheel.-----------------Set the heels just shy of the mounting bosses that they are on.----------------Post a picture of the shift lever " holes " so it is clear what the question is.
