evinrude carberator

Your 69 motor is a 22 cubic inch motor ----------The 78 motor is 31.8 cubic inch !!------Why change carburetors ????
 
Old carb was bad, I had the other off of a low compression motor. Will this make a difference or is the 78 carb okay to use.
 
I've adjusted the carb while in the water and its running good now. The old carb needed rebuilt and the one of the 78 had been rebuilt so it was easier just to put it on. Everything matched up as far as linkage and electric choke. Didn't think about the oil since this is my first boat. I appreciate all the advice.
