engine identification

I was given a Johnson 9.9 Model MQ12 A S#J2663079 several years ago, any idea how old ? I put this thing in my shop an forgot it and discovered it a week ago. I took out plugs put a little 3 in 1 oil in cylinders let soak all day flywheel spun freely put plugs back in started right up . Was told water pump could be old/dry rotted . Any thoughts ? Response would greatly appreciated.
