I know the part #'s differ,but would this fit a '78 Merc 80HP?

The Lower end caps for triples, big fours and 99 cube sixes are all interchangable. That looks liker one of them, but check on this site to make sure. Look in "MecuryOutboards Parts" for your mootr, then loom for crankshaft and piston assembly.
