Batteries are located in the central console 7 feet from engines.
I was wondering to install batteries at the bow 10 feet away from console

Is there any problem for the alternator to charge battery 17 feet away?

On the other side to start the engine my Optima Marine batteries are powerful : MCA 870
and Mercury 50 needs only 465.

I have one battery Optima per engine.

The problem with the batteries up front is the bounce????The Optima batteries are supposed to be good for vibrations and bounce.Like kimcrwbr1 said get a heavier cable. That distance, at the very least a #2 or bigger cable. Make sure the connections are GOOD, Good copper ones not the cheap plated ones. They can be soldered in place for a better connection.
