Dieseling 440

Back from vacation and both my 440s (with Carter AFBs) ran great. At 1860 RPM consistently (8.5 kts) I averaged 6.7 gal/hr total. My question is, after a day's run coming into a harbor, my stbd engine would begin stumbling as if wanting to die. If I gave it a little higher throttle to keep it from dieing, I could still feel the stumbling/dieseling. RPMs would jump 620-680. If I left it at the same RPM as the opposing engine (530), it would surely have died and made the Admiral quite upset as well as me.

At cruise RPM, the rpm's stay steady. It's at idle (neutral and in gear) that seems to be a problem.

Carb cleaning?
