Depth finder, fish finder or both?

I have a 2002 Starcraft 24’ pontoon and it came with a Humminbird Platinum ID 120, which is not reliable. I’m looking for a depth finder which also can be used for fishing now and again. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance. Norm

I would get a fish finder with CHART PLOTTER built in.----That way you can go straight to the holes or structure where the fish are.-----Cheaper than busting off the gearcase too !

garmin, lowrance, and hummingbird are the recognized brand names for entry level units.

FWIW, buy the BIGGEST display that has the features you like - and most have their manuals on line and some even have demo programs you can run on you phone/laptop. If you are lucky you can visit a dealer's showroom and try them out firsthand (in demo mode)...
