I pulled both of my heat exchangers core's on the DD 6V92TA engines due to temperature creep when operating in the 1900-2200 RPM range. I replaced the water pump impellers recently and the strainers are clean, also the bottom was just painted and wheels serviced. My question is what gasket sealer should I use on the gaskets when re installing the heat exchanger core's. My preference is Permatex No. 2 but I lot of people sware by the silicone sealers today.
Thanks,

I don't swear by it, I LIVE by it! There is no question nor doubt about the BEST and MOST TRUSTWORTHY and FOOLPROOF, LEAK PROOF and IDIOT PROOF gasket maker and sealer on the market today.

And that is.....

THE RIGHT STUFF... now branded and owned by the PERMATEX LOC-TITE industrial complex.

Comes in a "cheese whiz" type application can.

Sells for about $20 U.S. in most automotive parts stores.

Does NOT work on surfaces that experience LIQUID GASOLINE

But for sealing water, engine oil or any type "vapor", it just cannot be beat.

Many gaskets have been ELIMINATED since the advent of RIGHT STUFF. It works that well. BETTER than "silicone" sealers by a LONG SHOT!

GITCHYA SUM!
