Crusader drain plugs

Hi,
Just wondering if there is any significance for the drain plug with a hole and any particular location it goes on the engine or the manifold. We are dewinterizing and want to make sure not to block any water flows. Engine is 99 crusader 5.7 mpi

Thanks :)

the 2 on the left are solid plugs and should be brass, the one on the right goes into a brass fitting and the brass fitting goes into something. When winterizing you should never leave the plug out of the block or any type of cast iron. The threads will rust .
If you must remove it, replace it with brass plugs

Thanks a lot for the help. Just out of curiosity and for knowledge, is there a reason why there is a hole in one of the drain plugs. Had a mercuiser ( blue plastic and easy to identify) and a Volvo penta before and they are solid plugs. This is the first time with a crusader.

FYI ....... Never use a petcock style drain fitting, and never rely on single point drain systems! (these companies who incorporate single point drain systems should be embarrassed)

With an individual drain fitting that has a removable stop, and with the stop removed, the drain port can be probed (small tool or wire) to ensure that rust scale is not able to block water from draining.

As for "recommissioning" after winter lay-up, just make sure that all stops have been re-installed!

Tip: if you would would like to extend the life of your seawater pump impeller, remove it for the lay-up duration. Doing so also allows for a safe 8 to 10 second "dry start" that will clear the exhaust system of any residual seawater!
I've been doing this successfully for years!
