I have a very small crack in m

I have a very small crack in my lower unit housing can I seal this using an epoxy or metal mender or even fiberglass I dont want to have to spend $400 on a new lower unit for this small crack

Is it leaking oil? OR is the oil contaminated?
Whatever you decide to repair it with must be able to deal with expansion/contraction from extreme hot and cold. Not to mention pressure up to 12psi. (test pressure for seals).

You just need the lower unit;

You just need the lower unit; gears are in the upper half of the OD. Check w/Sterndrives Engineering. You can get a new LU for a good price.
 
How hard is it to transfer gut

How hard is it to transfer guts from my lower unit to a new housing do I need any special tools is there a gasket set?

Are you saying a complete lowe

Are you saying a complete lower unit from them is 600 but a bare case from mercruier is 1000?
