" I just dug out of storage my old 42HB 4 horse Chrysler for use on a little fishing boat I just got. I cleaned it up a bit and started it up and it ran great for 5 minutes and quit. Why? What is the fuel oil ratio, the spark plug gap, can anyone help me. I can't find my manual after all these years.

"Don,

My index shows that as a 1976 4HP motor.

I am not an expert... but I checked the Chrysler service manual for that motor and it says:

[*]Spark Plug Type: Champion L86 [*]Spark Plug Gap: .030" [*]Breaker Point Gap: .020" [*]Recommended Operating Range: 4750-5750 RPM
[/list]

The Service Manual doesn't have the fuel mix, I assume it is 50:1 but maybe someone else can jump in on that.

Good luck with the motor.

We sell the Chrysler Service and Parts Manuals if you need them.
