Charging sys. Voltage 5.7 Gi

Hi Gang,

Does anyone know what the proper charging system voltage is supposed to be on a 1996 V/P 350 Gi.? I suspect I might have an issue

Ayuh,.... I'd expect to see 'bout 13.6v to 14v on the gauge runnin',.... What sorta Issues,..??
 
Jon, be sure to take your voltage readings directly at the battery bank in question.
Check while the battery bank has been at rest for several hours........, and again during alternator charging.

Helm volt meters are rarely accurate.

Hi Gang,
Thanks for the quick response. I find that my cranking speed is a bit low when I first start the motor after it has been sitting for a few days. I always shut off the batt switch before leaving the boat. I suspected that the voltages mentioned would be what I should see, but I have not been able to find that spec in my manuals. I do not suspect any mechanical issues but I feel the engine should crank a bit faster.
