When I took the carb off my AQ

When I took the carb off my AQ125a I found a restricter plate. Can anyone tell me whats up with it and could anything be gained buy not putting it back on

"It appears to me that the plate has that shape to add turbulence to the air/fuel mixture (or perhaps to stop drops of fuel to reach the manifold), but I could be wrong. I don't think you should remove it and I further don't think it is restricting the air/fuel intake. The narrowest cross section in the carb (which is in way of the butterfly throttle valve or by the Venturi) is what determines the maximum air flow."
