what this tan wire is for? im guessing water temp or pressure? does not go to helm. only tan wire is a bullet connector off my accessories plug on controller

On 2000 year model, give or take, 3 and 4 cylinder engines of which I own/owned, the tan wire is the alarm sensor output wire for cylinder block over temperature and a tan/blue stripe oil level low signal. They are pigtailed together at the remote cable connection. The OT is a solid short causing the horn to blow solid and the low oil alarm is a modulated alarm so that you can tell the difference in the source.

Internal connections are made to the remote cable via pin 3 which contains a tan/blue stripe wire which goes to the control box and a pigtail for operating a dash mounted visual alarm....a warning light.
