Bravo clutch and shift cam?

New guy here, hoping someone can answer a technical query.

I was looking through my Mercruiser service manual 11 and noted that changes have been made over the years to the Bravo driveshaft housing gears, cone clutch, and shift cam/yoke.

By Bravo driveshaft housing is of a vintage that was in-between new and old designs. I do not know the serial number because the decal was missing when I got it. It has the "newer" style gears (numbers stamped on top) but does not have the updated cone clutch or shift cam/yoke.

I have an updated cone clutch and shift cam/yoke from my old housing and they are like new. Would it be worth the trouble to update my drive with these parts? Can I replace just the shift cam/yoke (MUCH less work than the cone clutch) for some benefit? It looks like the new cam provides more positive engagement, based on the shape, but I don't know if it will work with the old clutch.
