I have a kind of baffling situation. When cruising below 3000 rpm temp is a steady 170. When I get up on plane the temp climbs to 185. The boat never used to go above 170 anytime. I inspected the raw water impeller and the thermostat over the winter. Does anyone have any suggestions before I start tearing everthing apart? The manifolds and risers seem to be warm but not overly hot. I also see some small amount of white smoke (steam) from the exhaust but it is such a small amount it might be what the boat normally produced.

Right on the transom assembly behind the engine is the water supply connection. Remove the two bolts and clean it out. You have a water restriction problem. If your engine is running hot your are defiantly over heating the drive.

Perhaps I misstated the problem. The engine is running hotter than normal. No overheat...yet. I just pulled the hose from the raw water pump to the engine. There seems to be plenty of water at idle.
