I have borg warner velvet driv

I have borg warner velvet drive transmission. Does anyone change the tranny filter when you suck the ATF out? I was told not to years ago when I had a boat mechanic. “might be looking for trouble” if I recall.

Some have a 'shield' and some have screens; we usually put back in the same configuration as found. Cleaning the screen is good practice but a bit messy."
