Bleeding oil system on 1987 DT 140

"1: Remove oil feed pipe from pump, fill oil tank, let all the air bleed out of the pipe, attach pipe to pump.

2: There is a bleed screw on the oil pump, looks like a bolt but also has a screw slot. Open it, blow down the oil tank filler cap until oil runs out and then do it up again.

3: Run on half a tank of premix so you can be sure the pipes to the inlet manifolds have bled themselves.

If number 3 worries you, you can pull the pipes off the manifold fittings, plug the fittings (a piece of clamped hose will do) and run in a tank until oil pukes out of the pipes, then re-fit.

You may have push on or banjo fittings at the manifold, if the latter the pipes are clear and you can see the oil in the pipes."
