BF30A Rev limiter

My factory prop was a 9 1/4" X 12 I put a Solas 9.9 X 10 prop on it. The factory prop was really lazy out of the hole and when you had any load in the boat at all the motor died and had a hard time .With new prop the motor jumps out of the hole but on top end it over revs and my motor cuts out. It is maybe 50-100 RPM over, the motor is a tiller and I only have a little throttle left when it starts to cut out. Is there any way I can disconnect the rev limiter.

No...it is built into the ICM. It you could disconnect it, and you overrev, it can hurt your engine.

Have you compromised and tried a 11 pitch?

There are some other things to try...

Since there is obviously extra weight in the rear of the motor (you), have you tried putting a hydrofoil (sometimes called whaletail) on the lower unit. It can help get the back end up quickly. Although, with extra people and weight, the hydrofoil will not help that much for overall performance.

Trying a fourbladed prop could help, but would affect your top end.

Sometimes, you have to have two props, one for when you are alone and one to handle the additional people.

Good luck.

Mike

It can be very frustrating trying different props to get things just right.
