Bellows Adhesive?

1996 Bravo 2 outdrive. I am replacing the u-joint bellows. Don't have a dealer real close and was wondering if there is a hardware store equivalent to the Mercruiser adhesive? Would 3M 5200 work? One guy told me that the bellows now doesn't even need adhesive? This doesn't sound correct.

Ayuh,.... Contact cement is close...

No, not 5200, 'n Yes, ya need cement...

Automotive weather strip adhesive is maybe even closer....
