I'm switching from a 1976 70 hp Johnson to a 2005 90hp mercury, what is the best battery for the mercury as for as cranking amps thanks

That depends on how many electronics(radio,marine radio,depth finder)and lights,how much are you going to use them with the engine not running.You could get by with 500cca but for peace of mind I would go with 800 or 1000 cca.Also throw away the wingnuts that come with the battery and install star washers under the cables then nuts annd tighten with a wrench.
