Barrus Shire engine stop

Hi,
I have a 42Hp Barrus Shire in a Narrowboat, the engine wont stop with the stop button. I have checked for 12v at the stop solenoid & there is 12v.
I therefore assume the solenoid is stuck ?. Is this cleanable/lubeable ?.
