This motor appears new. No sign of wear what-so-ever. I got it in trade.

Problem is no fire. I removed the flywheel and the cover over the points. Everything looks perfect. I removed the black wire that goes from the stator, to the coil, to the kill button and to the points. When I hook a ground to the block from a battery and hook a test light to the positive, it lights up when I touch the terminal on the coil, when I touch he terminal from the stator, and when I touch the terminal connecting the points and the condenser. When I beak the points open the light go out. Also when I touch the stator terminal and remove the stator from the block, the light goes out indicating no short in the wire going thru the base.
Seems like the stator and the coil checks should not light up indicating direct short but they do.
Any help understanding this thing?
