" Hi i finally got my rebuilt 283 (with after market manifolds and risers)to cool down .I had the hoses routed the way the manual said . But that was wrong . I routed it from pump to block ,out of the intake at the top to riser. and a hose from the back of the manifold to the front of the manifold and it runs very cool. I don't know if that hose from the back of manifold to front is even needed. But it works so i'll leave it that way.The book said to run it from pump to lower part of manifold to the upper part of manifold to front of block and out of the top of the intake to riser. It was bypassing the whole block that way.Thank you for all the input . "

"Glad to hear you solved it, D

"Glad to hear you solved it, Dennis! The routing to the exhaust manifolds first warms the water before it hits the block, minimizing temp differences inside the block.
