I ran my boat through a shallow area in a lake and bottomed out. I sucked up alot of mud. I checked the impeller and it needs replacing (misses 3 teeth). My question is where should I look for a new impeller and what is the exact part number? Also how would I go about flushing all the mud from the motor and lower unit. I only assume that the mud made it through the motor and lower unit. Any help with this would be much appreciated.
When the boat was on this lake I had to nurse it back to the dock. Shutting it down so it can cool and starting it up again. It reached temps of 240 degrees F. Should I be concerned about internal damage? If so what would be the first thing to check?

"Here is an exploded view of your raw water pump. You can order part 875575 (impeller, key and gaskets) at any VP dealer.

If you want an aftermarket impeller kit, it is Sierra part 18-3075. Any marine parts store can order one for you if they don't have one in stock.

To flush the cooling system (refer to the following link) try this:

1)Remove hose clamp 55, disconnect hose 54 from the copper tube, stick a garden hose in the rubber hose and backflush from that poin to the outdrive. You should see clear water coming through the lower unit grids. If muddy, keep flushing until the water is clear.

2) Disconnect flange 10, remove both copper pipes from the raw water pump, and flush the ove going tot he outdrive. If clear, reconnect hose 54 and tighten clamp 55.

3) Remove the cap from the raw water strainer (by the expansion tank) and remove and clean the strainer. With a garden hose, pour water into the strainer and flush the pipe going to the raw water pump. When clear, replace the strainer cap but leave the strainer out.

4) Disconnect the pipe 10 from the bottom of the exhaust manifold, then attach the garden hose to the copper pipe at the discharge of the raw water pump and flush until you see clean water coming from pipe 10. You may have to flush that section backwards (starting on pipe 10) if no water comes out, and in an extreme case you may have to dismantle the heat exchanger

5) Remove the exhaust hose (part 18 in the following link) and attach the garden hose to the raw water inlet to the exhaust manifold (where the copper pipe 10 is attached) and watch for water coming through the riser. You may have to use a screwdriver or a piece of wire to clear the passages.

6) Pour water through the exhaust pipe and see that clear water comes through the exhaust outlet in the lower drive.

Now, just put things back together (including the raw water strainer) and you are done.

I don't expect the engine to have suffered any damage, but you will have to run it to find out."
