Antique OMC Prop Question

I have a 1960 Johnson 40. The prop is original. It's splineless w/shear pin. The motor overrevs and the boat slows when I give it a lot of throttle. My first thought was that the hub was spun, but...do these vintage props even have a rubber hub? If it's driven with a shear oin, why would it it need a rubber hub?

I removed and reinstalled the lower unit immediately prior to this symptom developing, so I'm concerned that I did something wrong and stripped the drive shaft or prop shaft. I'm new to mechanical work and I'm not sure how to proceed. Any thoughts/advice would be most appreciated!

Thank you!

It does have a rubber hub, and yes they do sometimes break loose and slip. The rubber absorbs the shock when you shift gears as well as touching bottom in skinny water.

Need a prop? They are costly to rehub. Just get me the size....I gotta clean up around here....there's WAY TOO MUCH TO AUCTION.
