Picked up a local used alpha 1 gen 2 while we wait for delivery of our new lower unit. Took the original unit off with no issues with gear in forward. However this new used unit has the shift shaft facing to the rear. I've tried turning it around while rotating shaft with no change. Unit seems to be be working exactly like the original with the exception of the shift shaft having 180 degrees from my original unit. I've researched several site but haven't found any information. Is it possible previous owner put the shat in backwards when rebuilt or am I just missing something simple? Thank you for everyone's input. I'll attach pictures to help better describe my issue.
