A mind of its own

Pulled flywheel from 85 90:p johnson and cleaned timing advance and applied lite coat of bearing grease to bottom, also replaced water pump. It started right up and ran at idle for about 15 seconds and then revved wide open by itself. What have I done wrong.

Did you torque the flywheel nut to 102.5 FT-LBS ?
Really? 1/2 (one half pounds) ? Is it that critical? My torque wrench is only accurate to within + /- 4% of its setting! I thought I had just "upgraded" from my former needle w/scale version. Do I need to invest in a precise one?

Just kidding.----Tork is specified at 100 to 105 ft-lbs.----I know all about variance in torque wrenches / thread pitch / thread condition / lubrication ETC ,ETC.----Did you remove flywheel or check timing pointer to see if key is sheared , yes or no ?
