1997 Mercury 225 offshore 3.0L carbureted, Motor runs good out of the water, idles nice in the water, 1/4 throttle in gear runs a little (very little) rough but ok, half and full runs great until you hit rough water then it bogs down and cuts in and out.
I have rebuilt the fuel pump, cleaned and replaced needle and seats in all three carbs, replaced the fuel filters, double checked fuel lines, adjusted the floats three times, first time even with the bowl, second time about 1/16" below bowl ( holding bowls upside down ) third time about an 1/8" which resulted in no change. I have checked the bulb when it happens and it is hard. I have made sure the tank valve / air line is free. only thing I haven't done yet is to buy a remote tank and try that.. by the way I just put 30 gallons of fresh gas in the tank.
