"When I pulled the old plugs out of my 60, the top plug was an NGK B8S and the mid and bottom plugs were NGK B8HS. Is the top cyl supposed to have a shorter plug? Could this motor have run with the mix matched plugs?"

I replaced the plugs w/QL78YC's and it fired over and ran, not very well, but none the less it ran, so it's now time for 3 new carb kits.

Is the Sierra 18-7042 the correct kits?

"The engine might start and 'run' on almost every plug that fits the treads! How it runs, how long it runs, how much damage that is caused is a different story. Do a decarb with Engine Tuner or Seafoam before You start on the carbs and test the engine, running either in a barrel or at sea, not at muffs. You need the correct back pressure in the exhaust to get the correct picture. Running on muffs is only for flushing engine."
