96 57 LX overheating

28ft twin 5.7 LX Alpha 1 Gen 2

28ft twin 5.7 LX Alpha 1 Gen 2 ---- both motors start to overheat at about the same time and it only happens when ran above 3300 RPMs..
then after it happens the first time the temp gauges starts to bounce sometimes down to 0.. if you shut it off and let it cool down completely the gauges work fine again until it overheats again..

Thermostats 1 week old
Impellers replaced when winterized (Nov 08)
Water pumps replaced (June 08)
 
Are the engines FWC or RWC?

Are the engines FWC or RWC?

Saltwater or fresh water use?

Exhaust components ever replaced? Shutters?

risers and manifolds checked out fine at that time also
 
is there a way to check it or

is there a way to check it or clean it from inside the engine compartment as the boat sits in the water the whole season
 
Pull the water inlet hose off

Pull the water inlet hose off from the inside and try to feel it or try to push a smaller diameter hose thru it. Raise the OD and see if you can remove the hose and see thru it w/flashlight or try the smaller hose; may be 1/2".

It would be great to have access to a scope/snake type camera!
