"will a fuel pump off of a 1967 evinrude work on a 1971 9.5 evinrude
also could someone tell me how to set the carb synchronization on a 1971 evinrude 9.5 hp I have read the book and don't understand, please explain like your talking to a 5 yr. old kid so maybe I can understand it"
 
"Yes it should work if you can

"Yes it should work if you can configure the fuel lines correctly. The larger motors also had 3/8" lines so you would have to get down to a 5/16" pump inlet and 1/4th" pump outlet to match the 9.5. Only low speed is adjusted on the 9.5. Start at about 2 turns out and at a slowest idle, turn in the needle at 1/4th turn at a time until the motor starts to speed up a little. Back down the throttle again to a slow idle and taking your time, continue to "lean out" by turning in needle. Pretty soon the motor will spit and maybe stall. At that point you are too lean. So open the needle (counterclockwise) about 1/4th turn. That should be your optimum setting with engine warmed up and in gear pushing the boat or in a test tank. Good luck."
