94 johnson 200 hp venom inconsistent spark

I have a 94 johnson 200 hp venom I bought from a guy and it is brand new and never been ran. It sat as a display till now.. I put it on my boat switch had a mercury before, and when I tested spark it's not consistent at all. Starboard side get more spark then the port which is almost none. I'm wondering if my power pack has went bad. I wouldn't think it would be bad just from sitting. Everything looks as if just came from the factory.

Are you using the Merc switch now ??

Yes
Only thing I changed was the controller and cables and bought a adapter from 8 pin merc to 8 pin johnson.

The old impeller is hard reducing cranking RPM, put a new impeller in it.

I would have never guessed that that would effect spark. I have a new whole new water pump I planned on putting in. I guess I'll do that and see.

The ignitions need the motor spinning at a fast clip to generate proper spark energy.

Update on issue.

I've changed the water pump
I've changed the ignition switch
And I've resistance tested the trigger and still have the same problem.

I'm thinking about just biting the bullet and buying a power pack

Not to say I'm a mechanic by any degrees or anything, but if I had to bet, I'd say the pack is bad. Johnson/Evinrude were known for them going bad, just as Mercury's were known for the stator usually causing problems. Kinda cool that you found a motor that old that was brand new!! Sweet find!! Update.

It was the power pack. Replaced and spark on all now
