Hello,

I'd like to install a cowl mounted trim switch on my outboard (this model only has trim switch on remote). I have found an appropriate switch (toggle rated IP65) 2Oamp @ 14v.

Should I connect this directly to the solenoids? Or by patching into the wires from the remote trim switch?

Any other suggestions / warnings regarding this install??

Thanks!

Donald.

Personally I would connect right to the solenoids. If you splice into the remote wires you'll have exposed wires in the marretts or butt connectors (whatever you use) which will oxidize. Plus it will look cleaner. You could do either though. Which ever is easiest.

OK, bit of an update and problem with this job. When I went to buy the switch, it wasn't a momentary type, meaning when it was depressed (up or down) it would stay in that position until manually moved back to centre (good way to flatten battery and ruin trim pump)

I cannot seem to find a Momentary 2 way rocker switch that is waterproof!!

Can anyone suggest where to get one? Or have one for sale from a wrecked outboard???

Thanks,

Donald.
