9.9/15 hp Johnson Crankshaft Difference

Can anyone tell me the difference in early 9.9/15 J/E crankshafts, apparently the cranks made for 1974 thru 1978 use p/n 0318676 which changes to 0336754, 9.9/15 cranks after that, till 1992, all superceed to 435707 could it be because those early models use a magneto flywheel or is the drive shaft different. Any help would be appreated.

The early models used points and the later models were electronic ignition without points.-----------So , what motor do you have and what are the issues ??

Well I repair these motors on a reg basis and I sometimes wind up with a good block and no crank or visa vera, I presenty am working on a 85 15hp and have a 82 block but no late model crank only a crank for a 75 9.9 and am just interested in what the diff is can I use a crank from a points motor on a electronic motor ? Just havn't ran into the this situation in the past and don't want to build a bad motor
