Remote tank oil pump failed. I

Remote tank oil pump failed. I replaced it. Took her out and after about 1/2 hour on the water the alarm went off again and the reserve tank on the motor was down. Does the new pump require priming? If so how?

unhook the oil hose from the e

unhook the oil hose from the engine and use the switch on the tank on the motor to ensure the pump is infact pumping oil.
