'85 Evinrude 90 VRO

I recently acquired a new (to me) boat with an 1985 Evinrude 90 (E90TLCOS) VRO. I have read and watched a number of videos of owners disabling the VRO function and mixing their gas mainly for the piece of mind of knowing the motor is getting the right mixture of fuel/oil. Seemed reasonable to me as my motor was one of the earlier versions with VRO which according to rumor were problematic. I thought I would do this as well and began tracing the wires and fuel/oil supply lines and discovered that my VRO bears a tag marked "VRO2". So now I am questioning my reasoning of eliminating the VRO. I am assuming this pump is a newer version of the original? If it has been replaced with a 'newer' version would I be making a mistake to trust it?

VRO is such a confusing topic and misunderstood.----I would take the thing apart inspect it and if in good condition use it.----Perform an oil out put test on it too.-------Still confused , then a factory manual should be on your shopping list.
