what is good compression on these old motors? were these the good years?

Anything above 95psi. A compression test does not really tell ya anything other that cylinders will support combustion. You can have good compression and damaged cylinders....

Should read about 130 / 140 PSI on a good one !

The good years.....in my book, and I HAVE written a book, ......probably to never be read....but that's off-point, were the mid 50's up until the over engineered 80's. Really depends on what you want out of life. You wanna try to get there fast......or ya just wanna get there for sure?

well i got it , 130 compression all cylinders. was this one of the motors they wanted the water source for the tell-tail moved?

No it was not !!!----That only applies to the 56 cube newer blocks.

thanks racerone, going to do water pump, plugs and thermostat, looks like its never had a bolt removed, paint on bolts is like new, fresh water motor
