78 Johnson 25 hp impeller pin. HELP please

My impeller pin got sheared off. Does the pin screw in or does it just slide in and out. Unable to get broken pin out.

Slides in & out. Very unusual that it should shear. Is it some sort of a homemade pin?

No,as far as I know its factory. It was really worn down when I put the new impeller in. I can get it to spin a have turn each way and that is it. Tried WD40,PB blaster
