77 evinrude timer base fitment issues

Has anyone had fitment issue with Cdi electronics parts?
I purchased a timer base for a 77 evinrude 70hp and upon installation the flywheel is making contact with the timer base. Timerbase part number 133-1251

What was wrong with the old timer base ?----Where ohm readings out of spec on sensor coils and charge coils ?----What is your motor doing / not doing ?

Weak spark on cylinder 3. Sometimes intermittent. Coils good power pack is good timer base failed dva test for that cyl.

Too add to that. If I pull the bottom plug wire off while the engine is running and hold it half way on at an angle I can get the cylinder to fire. I have also done a spark gap test which was good it jumps a 1/2-5/8ths gap no issue once the plugs back in nothing

Timer base only tells pack when to fire...has no effect on spark voltage. Spark voltage comes from capacitor in pack. If weak most likely damaged SCR in pack. As to original question...yes as their quality control sucks.

Hmmmm it's a brand new pack. Possibly bad from factory? I did test the new pack and all checked out good.
