703 control question

I have 1987 Yamaha v6 200 HP with a 703 control. When I lift the warm up lever for my initial start up, it allows the engine to rev way to high. If I don't use the lever it won't start. After the initial start, it starts with a tap of the key. Can I adjust the lever to prevent such high RPMS. If so how?

That is normal, they all do it, it's the way the internal linkage is designed

Pull up the lever half way and see what happens.
